   ocr: Stoneworker Egyptians made vases, bowls, statues, and beads out of stone. The stonework done by the Egyptians shows that they were highly skilled. To make a vase, a stoneworker first chose a block of stone. He shaped the outside of the vase by chipping the rock with a hammer. Then he used a drill to hollow out the inside of the vase. The drill had a piece of hard rock shaped like a half-circle on one end. The rock on the end of the drill ground sand into the vase sO that the inside of the vase was slowly scratched away.
